Worked both this morning and this evening and was able to be Mr.Mom while Laura did a photo shoot at the beach at 4pm. This Mr.Mom stuff is getting easier, but I am always glad to have Laura home to take the reins.
Today, I finished editing the Hilton Head Island 40th Anniversary I’ve been working on for the last two weeks. I was able to shoot them in the hour leading up to sunset and the composition was perfect. The colors were great and it was a fun couple to photograph. They were staying at a villa on the South end of Hilton Head Island and we had the beach completely to ourselves.
Balancing work and Mr.Mom
Visited a New Church with Old Friends
This morning, we drove South to attend church and visited the St. Augustine Celebration campus. It was great seeing Jason and Lindsey, as well as visiting Pastors Jason and Jessica Brown’s satellite campus. Reagan was really happy to see Jason and Lindsey’s son, Grayson, and they had a lot of fun playing together. Regan has a big crush on Grayson and even prays for him every night. We are going to plan a future trip to Ollie Koalas, so we can all get together again soon. It was an interesting mix of churchgoers and the service was a fond reminder of when I served at South campus, when it was at Bartram High School. Those were great times with a lot of fun people I don’t see too often nowadays.
During the closing prayer, Jason spoke over the congregation and I was reminded of something that I had wanted to do, but, as of yet, have failed to follow through with. I would like to devote time to intercessory prayer. A friend is very involved in intercessory prayer and he has given me some great tips on how to improve my prayer life. He is very structured with it and is very dedicated. I would like to become that dedicated. I think, first I just need to commit to devo and get that habit well-underway.
Christmas Boat Parade on Julington Creek
After a fun day of driving around and buying photography props, Laura and I brought our two daughters to the park to run and play as the sun set and then home for dinner. Immediately after finishing dinner, we headed up to the Julington Creek bridge to see the Christmas boat parade.
It was windy and about 50 degrees out, but the sidewalk over the bridge was packed with people of all ages and we arrived about twenty minutes before things got into full swing. I was going to see how much light I could grab with my D700 and 50mm lens, set to 2000 ISO. I really should’ve brought the 70-200mm, but I just wanted to have a good time and see what I could capture without the big glass.
I played around with different apertures and shutter speeds, using a flash for a few, off and on. I was using my beast flash, the SB900, and was throwing massive light and grabbing all of the moisture in the air. After various adjustments, I finally was able to settle on the proper balance of all aspects and finally got a bunch of nice photos.
We also premiered our new sit and ride double stroller. It worked out very well and we are looking forward to bringing it to Disney this week.
Cold Night for Food, Fellowship and Fun
I started the morning off at 6:30am, at 32 degrees, scraping ice off of my windshield with a credit card just to see the road until the Jeep’s heater warmed up. I had to stop before I left my community to again rescrape the windshield of the ice that accumulated the short drive down my street.
I ended the night outdoors in 43 degrees, with cold hands, surrounding a bonfire with friends from church. Tonight was the PUSH Ministry Annual Barbeque at Tony Fry’s house. PUSH encompasses the Parking, Ushers and Security ministries of Celebration Church. It was cold…but the food was terrific and the conversation was enjoyable.
